Undercurrent Labs Studio
The brand new Undercurrent Labs studio is a multifunctional composition, recording, mixing and research space designed by John Penn.
The focal point of the new control room features a fully automated NUAGE networked console, a collaboration between Yamaha and Steinberg and one of the first surround installation in the US. In addition to a live room large enough to accommodate a small orchestra, the studio includes a green screen web studio for pre-visualization and live internet streaming, gallery, grand piano room and a modest iso/voice-over booth.
A unique and comfortable lab dedicated to 3D audio experimentation is equipped with an innovative, reconfigurable space outfitted with seven Equator surround monitors, two Yamaha mid-fields and multi-channel micing, tracking and playback options.
Since its opening, the new studio has been featured in the following publications.
The essence of the company has always been in its cutting-edge technology. From our beginnings in the Detroit music scene, mixing techno sounds with R&B and rap, we started composing and mixing audio for video in computers when the big production companies were still editing linearly. now we're pushing the boundaries of 3D sound for music, film games and even medicine in an effort to achieve the maximum amount of reality in an immersive 3 dimensional sound experience.
We are able to offer a compelling immersive sound experience by reproducing sound on three axes (x,y,z) with 3 layers of sound which create a natural spread of acoustic energy around the listener. With ambient sounds coming from all around and above, you will hear the most true-to-life reproduction of sound, creating the most immersive experience as if you're are part of the sound space.
